LIFE AS A MEDICAL STUDENT TALK

Held on 20th of April 2010, from 3 to 5 p.m, the ‘Life as a Medical Student’ was, in all cases, a successful event. The whole of Lecture Theatre 4 was filled to the brim with students interested in knowing what life as a medical student entails. The speakers were Mr. Yukdes from Monash University and Mohd Niza as well as Mohammad Izani from Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences. They elaborated well on what they went through as well as explained the extra-curricular aspects of a medical degree. All the speakers attracted the attention of the students and many questions were put forth by the students, which were well answered by the speakers. The powerpoint pictures also grabbed the attention of students. In the end, the talk fulfilled its purpose of giving the students useful insight to the life of medical students.

‘CAREER PATHWAY & LIFE AS A PHARMACIST’

Not wanting to miss out future pharmaceutical students, the Pre-Med Society also organized a ‘Career Pathway & Life as a Pharmacist’ talk. Held at LT 3 from 3 to 4 p.m on the 29th of April 2010, Mrs. Wong Hooi Fen, representing Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society, was the invited speaker. With the aid of powerpoint, she explained clearly on the different branches in the field of pharmacy i.e. hospital pharmacist, community pharmacist, pharmacist in manufacturing; the roles of a pharmacist in the society; the programme structure of the course of pharmacy in universities that includes the duration and the topics expected i.e. pharmaceutics, pharmacology, etc; the character & values that a professional pharmacist need to uphold as well as the speaker’s own experiences in this field. There was interaction between the speaker and the students; resulting in everyone being satisfied with the talk. Everyone gained something useful.
